Countries Experience: People's Republic of China

Occasionally, JSD is asked to appraise or evaluate the potential of minerals properties in the PRC.

Project # 1: Longtaushan

In one such case, we worked with a geological team to assess a three dimensional resource model derived from a drill hole data base.  From the model, the following tasks were performed:

This enabled the client to make a preliminary assessment of the project value, and to determine whether to consider commencing mine development or deferring mine development until the size of the resource had been increased in either size or level of definition.

Project # 2: Shandong Gold Mines (2013)

Shandong Province is the main gold producing area in the PRC, the Province itself being located on the "Dragon's Head" coastline, to the south of Beijing.

The project involved a VALMIN compliant valuation of a pair of gold mines, each feeding a central ore processing plant and finally a gold refinery producing "4 9's" gold and silver, as well as other precious metals.

This assignment also involved project evaluation for a transaction on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Project #4 Gold Project in Shaanxi Province (2015)

Shaanxi was the capital of China during the Tang Dynasty, 1400 year ago.  Remnants of the Emperor's walled city still remain.  Not far from the capital Xi'an, the famous Terracotta Warriors may be seen alongside the tomb of China's greatest emperor.

The project was located about an hour's drive from this very popular tourist location, in a city called Tongguan.  This is the main gold producing area in China after Shandong Province (see earlier).

The job involved assistance with a public listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
